Dr. I.G. Loscertales was born in Seville, Spain, in 1963. He graduated from the School of Engineering of Seville University in 1990, and obtained his PhD in 1995 from the Mechanical Engineering Department at Yale University, under the guidance of Profs. Fernández de la Mora and John B. Fenn (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 2002), in the field of nano-aerosols and electrosprays.

Dr. Loscertales joined the University of Malaga (Spain) in 1995, becoming associate professor in 1996 and full professor of Fluid Mechanics in 2006. In 2001, together with Prof. A. Barrero (U. Seville), they founded Yflow Sistemas y Desarrollos SL, a spin-off from the universities of Málaga and Seville. Since then, they have been working on developing both fundamental and applied aspects of the electro- hydrodynamic (EHD) technology towards the production of micro and nano structured particles.

From the Yflow side, they have patented several processes and applications (more than 10 patents), including patenting with Kraft Foods Inc. and EADS-CASA among others, and have developed work for Airbus, Philip Morris and Henkel-Loctite, among others. He has also established interactions with selected groups around the world in the Areas of electrospray, electrospinning and Microfluidics. He has recently co-founded Doxa Microfluidics (2018) to promote the use of electro-hydrodynamic technology.
